Before You Begin
You will receive an email invitation to complete the system check one week before your test. It contains links to the ProctorExam Chrome plugin and the system check itself, which must be completed at least 48 hours before your exam time.
Required Conditions
System Check in 7 Steps
Notification Permission
Why do we need this?
ProctorExam needs to send you critical alerts if something goes wrong during the test.
What you need to do
Click the system check link from your email. When your browser asks for notification permissions, select "Allow".
Outcome: Wait until you see "Notifications are enabled" ticked on the screen, then click Next.
Screen Sharing
Why do we need this?
The invigilator must see your screen to ensure test integrity and that no unauthorized materials are open.
What you need to do
Click the "Enable screen sharing" button. A browser pop-up will appear. You MUST click on the image of your "Entire Screen" to select it, then click the "Share" button.
Outcome: Verify that "Screen sharing is enabled" is ticked, then click Next.
Microphone Test
Why do we need this?
The system must record your spoken interpretations clearly for the examiner to score them.
What you need to do
When prompted, click "Allow" to give microphone access. Speak clearly into your microphone at a normal volume.
Outcome: Once the audio bar moves and you see "Your microphone is working" ticked, click Next.
Speaker Test
Why do we need this?
You need to be able to hear the NAATI dialogues clearly without any distortion.
What you need to do
An audio sample will start playing automatically. Listen carefully.
Outcome: Select "Yes" to confirm you can hear the sample clearly. Wait for "Your speaker is working" to be ticked, then click Next.
Computer Camera Test
Why do we need this?
The proctor needs a clear front-facing view of your face and shoulders throughout the exam.
What you need to do
Look at your screen and check if your webcam feed is visible and well-lit.
Outcome: If you can clearly see yourself, click "Okay", then click Next.
Mobile App Setup (Second Camera)
Why do we need this?
NAATI requires a second camera placed behind you to monitor your desk and physical environment.
What you need to do
A QR code will appear on your computer. Download the "ProctorExam" app on your phone. Open the app on your phone, click "I already have the app", and scan the QR code displayed on your computer monitor.
Outcome: Your computer screen will now display the camera feed from your phone. Click "Okay" if it is working, then click Next.
Connection Check
Why do we need this?
A stable connection prevents your audio from cutting out or disconnecting mid-test.
What you need to do
Leave the page open while the system automatically tests your upload and download speeds.
Outcome: Once the screen says "Connection stable", click Next. You have successfully completed the system check!
After the System Check
An email link to your actual test will be sent to you. Keep looking for it in your spam/junk folder as sometimes it takes time to arrive.
You can always perform the test again if you wish by clicking "Check Again".
Once you have the test link, simply click it at your scheduled test time to begin!
