NAATI CCL: Complete Guide to the Credentialed Community Language Test
The NAATI Credentialed Community Language test assesses your ability to interpret conversations between English and another language at a community level. Many candidates take the test because a successful CCL outcome may help them claim Credentialed Community Language points for eligible points-based migration pathways.
A2ZNaati is an independent preparation platform built to help candidates practise realistic CCL-style dialogues, improve vocabulary, strengthen note-taking and receive practice feedback before test day.
What is the NAATI CCL test?
The CCL test requires you to interpret two pre-recorded conversations. Each conversation is between an English speaker and a speaker of your selected language other than English. You listen to short segments and interpret each segment into the other language.
The conversations reflect everyday Australian community situations. Topics may include health, legal matters, education, housing, insurance, employment, settlement, social services, consumer affairs and financial services.
How is the test scored?
Each dialogue is worth 45 marks, making 90 marks in total. To pass, candidates need at least 63 overall and at least 29 marks in each dialogue. NAATI uses a deduction method, meaning marks are taken away for errors that affect meaning, language quality or delivery.
